Jordan Crawford couldn’t be stopped on Tuesday night. Thankfully for the Atlanta Hawks, he ran out of gas.

Crawford, the speedy guard for the Washington Wizards, torched Atlanta for a triple double that included 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, but his final shot in overtime was an air ball and the Hawks were able to eek out a win, 100-95.

It was the second career trip-dub for Crawford and he became the sixth player in franchise history to register a triple-double against the Hawks. He joined Si Green (1964 against the St. Louis Hawks), Gus Johnson (1969), Wes Unseld (1970), Darrell Walker (1991) and Gilbert Arenas (2004). Only Crawford and Unseld did it in losses, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Wizards were once again without star point guard John Wall.

It was the second time in as many games that Atlanta has gotten its lunch eaten by a flight-of-foot backcourt player. On Saturday the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry came into Philips Arena and feasted on Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Devin Harris and any other Hawks defender who tried to guard him. The Little Man That Could AKA Babyface Killa dropped 18 points and 11 assists and even grabbed eight rebounds en route to a 115-93 drubbing of the listless Hawks. It was the Warriors’ sixth win in seven games, all on the road.

Fortunately for the team, on Tuesday they were able to fight through Crawford’s big night and pick up the victory moving to 15-7 and just a game behind the Miami Heat in the Southeast.

The game was tied late in OT when DeShawn Stevenson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer to help the Hawks hold on at Verizon Center.

Atlanta was led by Lou Williams’ 24 points, while Josh Smith netted 17 to go with 13 rebounds.

Al Horford had a rough night, scoring only 5 points in 44 minutes. The Hawks will need to get it together fast. The Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder will be in the building on Wednesday.
